The Ian Report #531 – Here It Comes!
Feb 2011 17

We’ve gotten our first shipment confirmation from the printer! The Emerald City Comicon editions of Project Manhattan are on their way! Truthfully, we had a bit of concern about whether we could do it all and have the books arrive on time. A LOT of work went into making sure we made everything in the graphic novel and Project Manhattan perfect. Many eyeballs have scoured these things fixing typos and the like!

I’ve started the process of going through the whole film to fix technical issues and make sure color correction is where it should be. It’s hard, going back and opening the project files for these shots and not also fixing every little thing I see. I’ve learned a lot in the past 4 years of doing CG, and there’s nothing I’d love more than to go back and apply it to the early stuff (this is a lie, of course—that would put another 6 or more months onto our schedule, and make us miss SIFF, and a dozen other horrible things. But as I’m sitting there in front of each specific shot, it’s hard to keep the big picture in mind and not start tweaking absolutely everything).

We released the Graphic Novel and Project Manhattan to the cast and crew, and it’s been really fun hearing their responses. It’s hard to go through the strain of the editing process while also maintaining enthusiasm for the product (or, at the very least, avoiding outright hatred), but when people can finally sit back and enjoy the stories, that’s really what makes it all worth it.

Also, Phil wanted me to mention this, if you want to find out when Project Manhattan and the Graphic Novel will be available online, simply sign up for our email newsletter and you’ll be the first to know.
