The Producer’s Report #93 – Nathan Taylor is Awesome!
Nov 2009 14

Today I saw a shot that blows my mind. It’s an aerial POV of our epic monster with animation by the amazing Nathan Taylor. Wow. Stunning. We sensed Ray Harryhausen looking down and smiling.

Jen Forbes was in yesterday laying in the latest batch of scrubbed dialogue tracks. It was cool to finally hear Josh Truax (Nebraska) and Jen Page’s (Xing Xing) dialogue as they walked from the Goose into Icaria’s. I’m told that the remainder of dialogue tracks will be in the timelines by next weekend.

Here are the stats.

Status of Visual Effects (VFX) Shots:
Number remaining: 68
Number in progress: 5
Number completed: 550 (we guesstimate that there are 707 total VFX in the film!)
Percentage remaining: 11% (Closing in on less than 10%!)

Doom: “14% plate techtonics and such” (calculated by Ian)

Projected date for completion of all VFX:
15 January 2010 (based on projected time estimates of all tasks)
11 February 2010 (based on spreadsheet items completed per week)

This week’s recommendations:
Ian: “Collecting Hummels”
Nate: “Sharkey’s Day” by Laurie Anderson. Suns coming up like a big bald head.
Phil: “Tempachair” by Tempachair. This is an amazing new product. It should be on every location shoot to keep cast and crew butts warm and toasty. I just got mine and I LOVE IT.

Cheers,

Phil McCoy, Executive Producer
